Adessa-Gallery began collecting art in the former Soviet Republic of Georgia
in 1993. Since then we have amassed hundreds of original pieces of Social Realism,
Russian Impressionist, Chinese Revolutionary Romanticism and Vietnamese War
art in places like Hanoi, Tashkent, Batumi, Beijing, Yan’an, and Kiev.
We are currently in the process of putting our entire collection
online but begin with the oil portraits and studies of Chinese
artist Jin Zhilin. Jin was trained in oils by Xu
Beihong and
later taught along side the Soviet painter Constantine Maksimov
at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. Jin’s masterpieces
hung in the National and Military Museums but the politics of
the Cultural Revolution forced Jin to hide his paintings, many
of his smaller pieces like those shown here were actually hid
underneath the floorboards of his studio in Beijing while he
languished away in a labor reform camp.
We look forward to posting our additional collections shortly.
Thanks again for perusing our gallery and we hope to hear from
you.
