The painting depicts the central assembly hall in Yan'an,
the location of major Communist Party conferences, cultural events, and
exhibitions. Jin painted this piece during the latter years of the Cultural
Revolution. The style is more impressionist than previous works painted
during the Cultural Revolution reflecting greater artistic freedom. |
